Click here for a sermon that will stun and amaze you. It is an audio file, so turn up the sound and give it a little time to load.
This sermon was preached by Rev. Don Little of Atonement Lutheran Church in Metairie, LA. This is a prominent, high-profile LCMS congregation in the New Orleans area. Pastor Little, as a member of the CCM, is one of the most powerful theologians in The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. After listening to this sermon, you'll know why.
You will be stunned...
"Pizza's neat... Chicken's neat too..."
ReplyDeleteThat just says it all right there.
Reverend Father Beane,
ReplyDeletePlease use *sarcasm* or some other indicator of your tone. I got my hopes WAY up. I would have listened for the laugh anyway, but I was on the edge of my seat for some fantastic Law and Gospel. Very disappointing.
Thank you for your blogging.
Ho Ly Cow.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, this guy's website asks the question "Who is Jesus?" but does not answer. Maybe somebody should tell him.
I'd like to see a first-year sem student turn this in for a Homiletics assignment. He'd be laughed out of the room!

ReplyDelete"I am stunned by the fact that the congregation is not drinking poison koolade in order to gain release from this interminable and senseless twaddle.
It will be a long time before I can look at another pizza.
Kyrie Eleison."

....I thought I was listening to a non-denominational Bible church sermon.....then I looked at Father Beane's email again. This is one of the most powerful theologians in our synod! Where was the Law!!!!
ReplyDeleteIs it very Scriptural to assert that Christ is there to fulfill our innermost needs when physical problems arise? I thought Christ is there to fulfill our EVERY need.
Similarly, his sacramental theology is a little rusty....he focuses on the emotional fulfillment (or possibly spiritual??) rather than the forgiveness of our sins. Wait, he never really mentions sin.
And I have to agree that "Pizza's neat.....Chicken's neat too...."...but Christ's body is the best there is! And you oughta daily receive Christ's body and "all that stuff."
I think this paradox unfulfills my innermost needs!
If this is what passes for a sermon from one of our top theologians in the synod, we are toast.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't it be easier to just say you're jealous?
