Radio shows all seem to have "classic rock" bumper music these days, so I thought I'd help out the New Issues, Etc. Radio Show (!) with a few suggestions, top ten style...
10. Don't Look Back (Boston)
9. I Will Survive (Gloria Gaynor)
8. Stayin' Alive (Bee Gees)
7. What's Going On? (Marvin Gaye)
6. We've Only Just Begun (The Carpenters)
5. Won't Get Fooled Again (The Who)
4. You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet (BTO)
3. The Boys are Back in Town (Thin Lizzy)
2. Back in the Saddle (Aerosmith)
1. Back in Black (AC/DC)
Happy to do my part for the cause...
I'd vote for "The Boys are Back in Town"!
ReplyDeleteI second "The Boys are Back in Town".
ReplyDeleteI like "I Will Survive".
ReplyDeleteAmaybe:
ReplyDeleteDon't Stop or Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac
Turn The Page - Bob Seger
Takin' Care of Business - BTO
On the Road Again - Willie Nelson
(I know it's country, but it so fits)
And the show open could be the Stone's - Start Me Up
The Boys are Back in Town!!
ReplyDeleteGreat, great, under-rated band, Thin Lizzy.
Won't back down - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
ReplyDelete+HRC
Ooo, I second Pr. H. R.'s suggestion of Won't back Down.
ReplyDelete"You can stand me up at the gates of hell" saith Tom Petty, "but I won't back down."
ReplyDeleteThat may be worthy of theme music, rather than mere bumper music. Is that in the electronic edition of LSB by any chance?
Another TP song that might be apropos as a message for the Paladins of the Purple Palace(tm): "Don't Do Me Like That."
I'm not a Grateful Dead fan, but I saw them back in the eighties perform with Bob Dylan and Tom Petty at the Akron Rubber Bowl (no jokes, please... Akron used to be the home of all the big tire companies). I walked right up to the stage while they were all jamming.
Now, that was pretty cool. But not nearly as cool as the reincarnation (can we say that?) of Issues, Etc.
Some other suggestions:
ReplyDeleteJimi Hendrix - "Purple Haze"
AC/DC - "Dirty Deeds/Done Dirt Cheap"
The Beatles - "Free As A Bird"
Stevie Ray Vaughn - "Texas Flood"
George Thorogood - "Bad to the Bone"
ELO - "Don't Bring Me Down"
