From an Anglican Friend

Thank you, Fr. Joe DeHart. You owe me a new keyboard.

  1. Thank you for including that comment about the new keyboard. I had a cup of water in my hand, but I didn't drink until after I stopped choking.

  2. This former Episcopalian, or rather Buddhahindupiscopalian, fell for this at first! I wasn't even sure it was satire until the very end.

I wasn't sure either until he brought in Moloch. Up to that point it could have been spot on! Then I noticed the tags and it had listed humour and satire. But until Moloch made his appearance it sounded like the politically correct dribble I hear often enough.

  4. I lurk over at the (Anglican) Stand Firm site and saw this. What a scream, and so sad, really, that it's almost impossible to tell it's satire!

But then, that's what makes good satire: it hits QUITE close to the mark.

  5. Forgive this comment which is completely off-topic (or maybe not so off-topic; it concerns Great Britain). Have you seen this Youtube video of an English MEP castigating the English PM?

  6. Dear Fr. Gregory:

Wow. I guess there are a few statesmen with backbone left. Impressive. Thanks for sending that along.

  7. Dear Elephantschild:

    Here here!

When my wife was attending the ultrafeminist Bryn Mawr College, the school newspaper reported that Lorena Bobbitt was going to be the commencement speaker.

We were stunned, but not surprised. And then we realized that the date was April 1. Our being fooled was more to BMC's shame than our own - because it was just plausible enough.

  8. Dear Al:

If they have to put warnings on cigarettes, maybe we need a special "satire warning." We could propose it to Congress as the Keyboard Preservation Act.

  9. Dear Mike:

The sad part is that the worship of Molech (child sacrifice) is still very much alive in the Episcopalian Church. It just goes by different names: the gods "choice" and "convenience" these days.

  10. They've even got an official liturgy for the post-dispensation of a child. I won't link it here - it's that horrible, but it's my archives somewhere. ::shudder::

  12. I've just realized that Anglican friend's comment was satirical.

  13. How incredibly sad is this, when hardly anybody realizes right away that this is satire?

Lord, have mercy upon us all, and preserve us from such a fate!

The sad fact is there are many Anglicans who would go along with the views of "From an Anglican Friend." Have you never heard of Bishop Spong? A very bizarre character who has some very strange beliefs.
