I'd like to go to this, wait, I am going!

Lectures  on  Lutheranism

5-6 of May 2012
Christ  Lutheran  Church  in  Hutchinson, Kansas

“The Contemporariness of a 1530 Document - The Augsburg Confession
Addresses 2012”

The debates are vigorous: How can 100-, 200-, or 300-year-old documents apply to contemporary society? That’s the question applied to the 1787 Constitution of the United States. How much more a 482-year-old document--the Augsburg Confession--a Lutheran confession of the Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Faith! Does this ancient document apply to 2012?

Some would argue: “Everything changes, so must the church.” Others would argue: “There is absolutely no relation between issues and struggles of the church of 1530 and issues and struggles of the church of 2012.” Others might argue: “You are living in your grandfather’s day!” The Holy Catholic Church of 2012 argues: “Does any document, ancient or modern, speak the truth?” The Augsburg Confession speaks truth. To today.

The Rev. Father Larry Beane, pastor of Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gretna, Louisiana, will lead this year’s Lectures on Lutheranism on Saturday, proving that the Augsburg Confession has contemporary application.  He will also lead the Sunday morning Bible Class and preach at the Divine Service that morning.  Plan to be the guest of Christ Lutheran Church on the weekend of May 5-6.  Call 620-665-8513 or e-mail clchutchinson@sbcglobal.net for more information.
