The world has gone mad (or just sad?)

Now this may be the single most pathetic thing I've ever read - further evidence that the culture is in a severely downward spiral. What amazes me most are the sheer numbers of people who are taking part in that which is so obviously unfulfilling, gloomy, hollow, and desperate.
