You should have seen guys like this live.

Back then you could turn on TV and get stuff like this too, along with the New York Philharmonic also.

Makes you want to cry hearing the unmitigated drivel called music since.

My idols: Steve Allen, Victor Borge, John Lewis, Count Basie, and of course the Duke of Ellington. Musically influenced comedians besides Danny Kaye -- Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Ernie Kovacs.

And my other never-miss in the 50s and early 60s -- Fulton Sheen.
