A few weeks ago, my 16 year old daughter was reading a history of some king (I think English, but not sure). She said, "Dad, you wouldn't believe what the rat king did. He would take the coins, melt them down, add cheaper metals to them, and reissue them!"
Funny how that happens ... it was a great teaching opportunity, as we worked out what was wrong with that, and how it relates to what we see today.
While serving in a previous ministerial call, I had to moonlight at the local Hollywood Video to pay for health insurance for the family. It took one of my coworkers a couple weeks before she stopped addressing me as "Father" and started using my first name.
