Why Seminary Still Matters

Did Jesus actually reveal name of the 'antichrist'?

This is the kind of "exegesis" you can expect when your pastors are no longer seminary-trained, but are instead run through a few internet classes, and when they can no longer read Hebrew and Greek.

This little clip is also dedicated to the handful of my seminary classmates who felt that learning biblical languages was a waste of time, as well as to my classmates who goofed off and played the "cooperate and graduate" card because they did not believe academic preparation for the ministry was important.

I don't know what you're talking about.

Translating English to Greek (while bypassing the actual Greek words), then to Aramaic (assuming an expert knowledge of a 1st century spoken language which we have no guarantee Jesus spoke) to get to Hebrew words (and assuming again, a first century pronunciation no one has ever heard spoken) seems like fine exegesis to me.

Plus it was much more interesting than any exegetical courses that I ever took at the seminary. Did you see those awesome pictures?!

No, I think you're totally off base on this one. I only wish the seminary would better train us to see Satan at work in the Democratic party, and the hidden bible codes God uses His prophet Strong to reveal.

One can only hope this makes it into the next Concordia commentary series.
